Scout & Zoe’s
About
I am you.
I’ve walked this cancer journey more than once, and I know how deeply it hurts. Zoe most likely had cancer too — we never had certainty, only the quiet fear that something was terribly wrong.
Hemangiosarcoma stole precious time from me with two of my pups, thirty years apart. Both losses broke my heart. Each one hurt in a different way… and somehow, each time felt heavier than the last.
In my adult life, I’ve said goodbye to four beloved companions. I did everything I knew how to do — nourishing food, endless love, gentle exercise, the very best care. And still, I lost them to things I could not control.
What I’ve come to understand is this:Each pup came into my life for a reason. Each one taught me something. I learned how to care for fragile bodies, how to listen more closely, how to love more gently through illness and uncertainty.
That is why I’m here with you now.Everything I’ve learned… I share so that you don’t have to walk this path alone.
When Scout was sick, getting him to eat was one of the hardest parts. Some days I fed him a slurry through a syringe. Other days I offered him our most nourishing treats, just hoping to give his body a little strength. And in the end, I fed him whatever he would accept — grateful simply to see him eat, relieved when he chose food instead of turning away because nausea had taken his appetite.
If you’re feeling exhausted… frightened… unsure of what tomorrow brings — I understand.I know that quiet dread. I know the moment you fear is coming, the decision you pray you’ll never have to make, and the strength you’re not sure you possess.
It is incredibly hard. But you do not have to face it by yourself.
This journey is, at its heart, about love. The deepest love we ever know — the bond between you and your sweet companion. A love so pure and unconditional that it changes us forever.
So if I can help — even in a small way — by helping your precious one eat a little more, feel a little stronger, or simply be comforted while you fight this battle together, please let me.
I know the road you are walking. And I promise you this:
You are not alone.
